STRIDING TOWARDS EQUALITY

Brock McGillis is a former professional hockey player and public speaker. 

He gained recognition as  the first openly gay men’s professional hockey player, challenging stereotypes and fostering discussions on inclusion.

After retiring from hockey, he transitioned to a career in public speaking, focusing on topics such as mental health awareness, breaking down barriers, and promoting inclusion in sports and other areas of life.

Brock’s work  has earned him honours and recognitions including:

  • Named one of the Hockey News' 100 Most Influential People in Hockey in ‘22, 23, 24

  • Recipient of the Herbert Carnegie Trailblazer Award (2023) 

  • Queerty Pride50 (50 LGBTQ+ people of the year) 2024

  • One of Governor General’s choice for the King Charles III Coronation Award
